Eligibility for E-Learning at ATC
Advisors consider students' overall performance in online classes when determining registration eligibility. To be eligible for online classes, students must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0;
- May be developmental in only one area (English or math) and it cannot be Reading, all other course prerequisites would apply;
- Be in good academic standing (students on probation or who are returning to college after having been academically dismissed are ineligible to take online classes); and
- Have no history of failing (F) or a withdrawal failing (WF) grades in the course they wish to take online.
- Students who have never taken an online course must complete the E-Learning Orientation before meeting with their advisor.
Steps to Register and Begin Your Online Course
Make sure you have the computer access necessary to take an online course.
You need regular, frequent, and dependable access to a computer that has a connection to the Internet. Click here for a list of hardware and software requirements.
Complete the Orientation Process for Online Classes.
You must complete the orientation process before you meet with your advisor.
See an academic program advisor
You must see a program advisor before registering for an online course. Advising and registration dates are advertised on ATC’s website, TV monitors and bulletin boards on campus.
Register and pay for the courses.
Please note: Permission to register does NOT guarantee you a space in the course. All online courses have a limited number of spaces, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
You MUST e-mail the online instructor as soon as you enroll in an online course.

The instructor will need your e-mail address to send you information concerning the course before the beginning of the semester. You must use your @student.athenstech.edu email address for ALL communication with your instructor.
To obtain the instructor's e-mail address, go to the Faculty/Staff Directory.
Obtain course materials from the Athens Technical College bookstore or another source.
NOTICE: Some online/hybrid courses use books that require an "Access Key." This Access Key is ONLY available with new books, or purchased directly from the publisher. It is your responsibility to check with the instructor of your online course to determine if the course will require an Access Key. Please do this before you purchase your books for online/hybrid classes.
The bookstore is located in the H building near the Student Center and Jittery Joe’s.
Monday - Thursday: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. - Noon
The bookstore may have extended hours during registration and the first few days of the semester. Please call 706-355-5125 to confirm bookstore hours.
Log on to Blackboard or the appropriate website to access your online course the first day of the term.
You will not have access to Blackboard until the first day of the term.
